Mu, cradle of civilization

Mu is a hypothetical continent disappeared in the Pacific Ocean, described by the English Colonel James Churchward on the basis of a 19th century translation by the Flemish abbot Charles Étienne Brasseur De Bourbourg of the so-called Madrid Codex (or Codex Tro-Cortesianus), a Mayan manuscript.

Mu, probably the remnant of the oldest Lemuria, would have included a large part of Polynesia, the Hawaiian Islands and the Easter Island and would have disappeared in the waves of the Pacific Ocean about 13,000 years ago, leaving only the myriad islands of Polynesia: according to Churchward it could have been the basis of Chinese, Indian, Persian, Egyptian, Mesopotamian and Greek civilizations.
Not surprisingly, among the testimonies of its existence there are some inscriptions engraved on clay tablets found in Tibet and Easter Island, whose gigantic statues, according to some scholars, are the heritage of the civilization of Mu.

The English colonel, during his travels to the East in the late nineteenth century, came across a series of ancient terracotta plaques, kept in an Indian temple whose priest he had become a friend. This priest, in turn passionate about archaeology, helped him translate the inscriptions present both on the temple wall and on the tablets which had been found in Rishi, one of the seven sacred cities of India and belonged to a much larger collection.
He told Churchward that they had been written in a dark and rich language of esoteric meanings by the Sacred Brothers, called Naacal, who came from their mother country in Southeast Asia to bring the sacred scriptures, the sciences and religion.
Together they discovered that the tablets spoke of the creation of the world, of man and of his native land, the continent Mu.

In order to substantiate his theories on this ancient continent, Churchward traveled far and wide in search of other tablets: encouraged by the discovery of ancient cities destroyed by volcanic cataclysms made by William Niven in Mexico, the colonel was convinced of the existence of other advanced "prehistoric" civilizations, such as Mu.

To reinforce these certainties was added the discovery, again by Niven, of two thousand six hundred tablets that made reference to the lost continent.
According to the information contained therein, Mu was rich in tropical vegetation, rivers, lakes and great animals and was inhabited by sixty-four million people, divided into ten tribes or strains and ruled by a unique re-sacerdote called Ra-Mu. The kingdom of this monarch was called the "Sun Empire": the inhabitants in fact worshipped a deity that was named by the fictitious name "Ra the Sun" and believed in the immortality of the soul and its future return to God.

One lived in prosperity and well-being but despite being populated by different races only the white race had relevant political positions.

Navigation was one of the main activities but the natives were also architects and sculptors and worked the stone with skill.
It seems that Mu was divided into three large areas and had seven main cities but like Atlantis, it was finally destroyed, sinking in the Ocean, about 13000 years ago.
The sinking caused an immense tidal wave that shook the whole planet.

The few who survived the tragedy withdrew to the present peaceful islands, the last bastions of the continent Mu and then split into three large migratory currents.
One came to India, continuing to Mesopotamia, where it is said that Moses himself had been inspired by Naacal tablets for the drafting of the Tables of Law: about 17,000 years ago, in Eurasia, there was the largest colony of Mu, known as Uighur, whose racial strain is to be considered the ancestor of the Aryan race.
The second branch of expansion, however, had come to America: according to some researchers, the same Mayan civilization was originally constituted by components of white complexion coming directly from Mu.
The last one gave rise to the Nagas kingdom in the South Asia.

To date, we do not know exactly the causes of the cataclysms that led to the subsidence of Mu, however one of the most widespread theories sees it as a direct antagonist of Atlantis: these two lands arose respectively in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and in the South Pacific and the technological level reached by their civilizations was such as to lead to a nuclear conflict between the two nations. This catastrophic war would have caused the total and reciprocal annihilation and sinking of the two islands.

"The Garden of Eden was not in Asia but on a now sunken continent in the Pacific Ocean.
The Biblical story of Creation- the epic of the seven days and the seven nights-came first not from the peoples of the Nile or of the Euphrates Valley but from this now submerged Continent, Mu-The Motherland Of Man."
-James Chrurchward
