The FEMA camps plan: a conspiracy theory
According to a conspiracy theory, the government of the United States would have developed a plan to imprison many citizens inside real concentration camps; the operation would be guided by the FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), through the application of harsh martial law.
The origins of FEMA camps conspiracy theory
This incredible conspiracy theory has its origins in the establishment of FEMA by President Jimmy Carter, replacing the Federal Civil Defense Administration, which has been active since the 1950s. The purpose of FEMA is to manage and coordinate the response to extremely serious events, bypassing local and federal authorities in order to allow for a quick and immediate reaction. The conspiracy theory therefore arises from the fear that following a large disaster (such as a serious natural event), martial law will be instituted and FEMA will take power by abolishing the constitution and effectively replacing the US government. According to some independent researchers there are also links between the existence of these detention camps and the so-called Project Blue Beam, under the direction of the New World Order.
Although it may seem incredible that detention camps are set up in a democratic nation, it should be remembered that something similar happened in the recent past in the United States: the terrible story of the so-called Camp Minidoka (The Minidoka War Relocation Center) puts us in front of a real detention camp active in the western United States between 1942 and 1945. During that period, during the Second World War, about 10,000 people of Japanese origin were interned by order of President Roosevelt.
Is there any evidence for this theory?
Apparently this theory is popular with former police officers and army veterans, such as the Oath Keepers association, which is usually associated with the far right and which often promotes anti-government ideas, with the declared aim of defending the constitution from "foreign and domestic" enemies. The association strongly encourages its members not to obey orders that could violate the United States Constitution, also referring to the possibility of martial law aimed at the incarceration of American citizens in concentration camps.
Camp FEMA: American Lockdown
William Lewis Films and Gary Franchi recently produced the documentary "Camp FEMA: American Lockdown", a feature film that supports this theory, citing as evidence images and documentation relating to numerous military bases that share common characteristics:
- large dimensions: in order to contain a large number of prisoners;
- presence of tracks, roads or airports nearby: presumably to facilitate the movement of masses of people;
- barbed wire fences place to prevent the crossing from the inside to the outside: in order to prevent the escape of any prisoners;
Are FEMA Camps Real?
It is good to remember that there is no certain and irrefutable evidence of the presence and activity of these structures, even if obviously it is not easy to obtain clear information when it comes to secret military structures.
As we know, often the most incredible theories have a foundation of truth: we think, for example, of the recent rumors relating to the cases of internment of irregular young immigrants separated from their parents and locked up in special structures, as in the disturbing story of the "Brownsville detention center".
