The Baghdad Battery (or Parthian Battery) is believed to be an artifact dating back to the dynasty of the Parthians (247 AC -224 AD) which is supposed to be a primitive galvanic cell, forerunner, therefore, of the electrochemical cell by Alessandro Volta of about 1800 years.
