Is there proof that UFO hunters are waiting?
What are UAPs?
UAP is the acronym that is used for "Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon" , a definition that is used in academia to essentially refer to what for many years we have been accustomed to simply calling "UFO ". The definition embraces a wide range of phenomena more or less known, ranging from sightings of simple objects or lights in the sky to more concrete surveys, carried out using scientific instruments. The distinction with the other acronym (UFO: Unidentified Flying Object ) is made not only to broaden the field of the phenomena described but also to avoid commissions with everything that in the collective imagination is now often connected with folklore, with the film and the entertainment industry in general.
UFOs and UAPs: phenomena important for public opinion
Starting from some chronicles dating back to ancient Greece, up to the theories relating to Area 51, the Roswell incident and the most recent speculations about government conspiracies put in place to control extraterrestrial activity keeping the population in the dark, there is no doubt that the sightings of flying objects in our skies have always had a lot of hold on people . For many, it all boils down to little more than a joke while there are people who have dedicated their entire lives to chasing these sightings and trying to decipher the meaning of the alleged traces of these hypothetical visitors.
The conspiracy theories about UFO and UAP sightings
Over the years, many theories have taken hold aimed at giving an explanation to these phenomena, even if no government has ever officially declared that it has irrefutable evidence (films or other surveys) capable of explaining the nature of objects, lights , forms appeared all over the world and reported by numerous people .
Many theories are united by the idea that the sightings are known to governments and military forces which, however, would have always put in place a ' cover-up operation to prevent the truth behind these sightings from being in the public domain. Very well known is the theory according to which there is a real operative body, the so-called Men in black in charge of the control and immediate cover-up of all cases of sighting.
Another recurring topic that is related to UAP sightings is that of alien abductions . In fact, there are many cases of people who declare not only to have come into contact with the alleged visitors but precisely to have been kidnapped, for reasons usually related to the study of our race by extraterrestrials. By delving into these theories, we can even identify a long list of alien races, that in one way or another would have had to do with our world. These theories go back to the origin of humanity, with the theory of the ancient astronauts, the assumptions about the so-called Anunnaki and related literature (take for example what Zecharia Sitchin).
UFO videos released by the Pentagon
One of the reasons that lead many "UFO hunters" to continue to believe that these events are real are the statements that have been issued from time to time by military pilots , often upon retirement and therefore no longer operationally involved. in activities covered by military secrecy . These statements have never been disclosed openly on mass communication channels, except perhaps in a few documentaries, and certainly none of this information was later followed by official admissions or detailed explanations by the competent authorities.
In 2020, however, an unusual event took place: the United States Department of Defense declassified and released three videos related to Unexplained Aerial Phenomena . These videos were leaked illegally a few years earlier and the Pentagon officially declared that the reason for the declassification was precisely to "clarify" a story that had taken on unclear contours. The Department's statement was as follows:
"Department of Defense is releasing the videos in order to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos. The aerial phenomena observed in the videos remain characterized as 'unidentified'. "
One of the videos was filmed by two US Navy fighter pilots and shows a round object flying about 160km above the Pacific Ocean . The other two videos also show objects moving in the air, one of which turns on itself , as confirmed by the voice recording of one of the pilots.
The approach of the scientific world towards UFOs and UAPs
Following a first study on UAP phenomena , commissioned in the 1960s at the University of Colorado by the U.S. Air Force, the academic environment has basically avoided going into this topic, considering it of little interest. The substantial inconclusiveness of the aforementioned study, together with the fact that the subject is often associated with conspiracy theories or pseudoscientific, have in fact made this subject taboo for mainstream science. However, there are numerous exceptions to this attitude and recently it is not unusual to find scientists who with open minds and a critical spirit decide to analyze videos and testimonies relating to the sightings. It is known that Carl Sagan himself believed that avoiding analyzing these phenomena would in itself be an unscientific attitude .
Is it possible to think that we are alone in the universe?
The new revelations related to the videos dissecreted by the Department of Defense , the very long tradition of sightings carried out by private citizens over the years, the presence of references to UAP in historical documents and works art of antiquity make it difficult to believe that it is only and always optical illusions, hallucinations or stories invented by the authors to gain visibility.
The same approach of mainstream science, which in recent years has been treating Unidentified Aerial Phenomena critically and with less prejudice , suggests that something is actually happening in our skies. It will be an important task for future generations to understand these events and find explanations.
"Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known."
